FIPS-Africa advised ARM Cement Ltd. on how to develop new improved fertilizer blends (called Mavuno), and package fertilizers into small affordable 1 kg bags to enable farmers to experiment with fertilizer with little risk.
As a result, demand for Mavuno fertilizers has increased rapidly amongst small-holder farmers. ARM Cement is now selling more than 20,000 tonnes of Mavuno fertilizers per year.

Notore Chemical Industries Ltd. – Nigeria
FIPS-Africa was contracted by PrOpCom in Nigeria to advise Notore Chemical Industries to identify and train Village Promoters (VPs) to teach farmers and sell fertilizer in small packs.
The project resulted in a rapid increase in demand for Notore’s fertilizers and farmers benefited from improved fertilizer management practices.
Images: Notore’s small packs enabled farmers to try out their fertilizer in an affordable, low risk way. Having succeeded, farmers returned to their Village Promoters to purchase fertilizers in larger quantities.
