Across Africa, many young people are looking for practical ways to build sustainable livelihoods. FIPS Africa’s Youth Enterprise Programme supports young women and men to identify viable agricultural businesses suited to their skills, resources and local markets, and to build the technical and commercial capability needed to grow them. The programme combines practical training with coaching, starter technologies, peer learning, connections to inputs and buyers, and pathways to finance.
This profile booklet brings that approach to life through the experiences of young entrepreneurs building businesses in poultry, vegetables, potato, aquaculture, aggregation and other agricultural services. Their stories show how young people are creating income and employment while also supplying farmers with products, services, knowledge and stronger market connections.
Since 2016, FIPS Africa has reached more than 250,000 young people and enabled over 60,000 youth-led agribusinesses. The booklet also highlights opportunities for partners to help promising enterprises strengthen production, access markets and finance, improve technical capability and grow into sustainable businesses that contribute to resilient rural economies.
