The Village-based Advisor (VBA) model is FIPS’ flagship, community-led approach for delivering last-mile agricultural support to smallholder farmers.

Research & development

FIPS’ in-house research team ensures the technologies it promotes are suitable for smallholder farmers by co-creating research with the farmers who will use them. The team also studies how to influence behavioural change among small-scale agricultural producers, helping design training and communication approaches that encourage adoption of improved practices.

Training

Two decades of field experience inform expert training in climate-smart farming, enterprise skills, and systems thinking, creating new opportunities for smallholder farmers to increase production, incomes, and resilience.
