The FIPS Africa International Training Unit is our dedicated hub for knowledge transfer, capacity building, and collaboration. We partner with NGOs, non-profits, private-sector firms, and government agencies to adopt, adapt, and scale our models, equipping them with the tools and systems needed to deliver measurable last-mile impact. 

FIPS Africa has supported over 80 organisations across 17 African countries, helping them adapt and apply the Village-based Advisor (VBA) and youth enterprise models within their specific agro-ecological and social contexts. 

How we support Sub-Saharan African partners

  • Practical workshops: Hands-on training to build practical implementation capacity.
  • Virtual coaching: Continuous mentoring and technical backstopping to troubleshoot field changes in real-time.
  • Peer-learning networks: Connecting practitioners through a “community of practice” to share learning and innovations across Africa.

  • Proven, scalable models: Our VBA and youth enterprise models have been tested and refined across multiple African contexts, achieving sustained adoption and measurable results. The models are adaptable for different agro-ecologies, farming systems, and institutional settings to ensure relevance and effectiveness.
  • Multi-sector experience: We collaborate with partners across the public, private, and development sectors, bridging the gap between agricultural extension, input suppliers, and markets to build stronger, more inclusive food systems.
  • Building local capacity for sustainability: We strengthen institutions and individuals that drive change. We enable partners to lead locally, ensuring ownership and sustainability long after our direct involvement ends.
  • Driving systemic change: Beyond direct implementation, we support the “big picture” – from seed system development, policy reform to market system strengthening – embedding long-term transformation within national frameworks.
